Springfield rates high in national rankings for 'quality of life' and 'best places for business and careers'

Two recent rankings place Springfield, Mo., in the top tier for “quality of life” and “best places for business and careers.”
Two recent rankings place Springfield, Mo., in the top tier for “quality of life” and “best places for business and careers.”
Bizjournals.com recently ranked Springfield among the top 50 mid-sized metros (#40) for “quality of life.”

This study looked at 124 mid-sized metros in 20 different categories. According to Bizjournals.com, the highest scores went to well-rounded places with healthy economies, light traffic, moderate costs of living, impressive housing stocks and strong educational systems. Springfield ranks higher than cities such as Little Rock, Ark., Tulsa, Okla., and Chattanooga, Tenn.

Forbes Magazine ranked Springfield in the top 20 percent of cities nationwide for “best places for business and careers.” Using consultants Moody’s Economy.com and Sperling’s Best Places, Forbes looks at three factors--the cost of doing business, job growth and educational attainment of residents of the 200 largest cities. According to Forbes, these are the cities, “remain attractive to businesses.” Springfield ranks above places such as Colombus, Ohio, Savannah, Georgia and Pittsburgh, Penn.
