a room with a view

Here is a quick before and after from a home office turned relaxation room. Now, thanks to a bit of TLC today, this space has been transformed into a place of clutter-free, airiness with more natural light and a cleaner less hectic work desk on the opposite wall. I love working my magic and making someone's home what they need it to be. Aw, now he can breathe again!
Start to finish wasn't that difficult a process since he was already working on making 3 separate piles for his stuff. DONATE, SELL, KEEP should be marked and placed in three areas easily accessible yet apart from one another. During the sorting process, make sure to ask yourself, "Have I seen, touched, used or worn this items in the past six months?" If the answer is no, discard or donate without hesitation.

For this client, he was ready to purge, making my job that much easier! Holding onto items is 10% physical, 90% mental/emotional with a connection that may need severed for your health and the health of your space.

De-cluttering, as this client was well aware, is a safer, cleaner more profitable and stress-free area once the mess is sorted and dealt with accordingly. The aftermath is rewarding, positive and upbeat allowing your true self to flourish at home and become more productive in your space altogether.

*I brought in live plants from his kitchen to add greenery and scenery to this front room. The second thing done was pull up the shades that were drawn giving light and in turn better natural attributes to the space. Dusting all furniture, vacuuming the floors, sweeping the cobwebs from the corners and the baseboards, fluffing the cushions and adding candles and books to the middle table all gave a much needed facelift to the room. Framed artwork or other meaningful imagery adds so much to the walls themselves and brings a warm and cozier feeling to the area without making a more drastic change like wall color or drapes.
* I pulled this glass case into this room to add history and a nice visual addition to this wall. Notice also, this wall had nothing on it aside from the boxes that we ended up using so this mirror was brought in, cleaned and put up to instantly make this room appear larger. The paint almost seems fresher now that these two pieces were added.
